3 THINGS HOLDING YOU BACK FROM YOUR GOAL
We all have goals and aspirations, whether they're related to our health, career, relationships, or personal development. These goals serve as guiding lights, motivating us to strive for something better. However, more often than not, we find ourselves in a cycle of self-doubt and frustration.
Here are three things to change with your physique-related goals!
1. Obsessing About Your Appearance
It's too easy to get caught in the trap of obsessing over your appearance.
However, spending time fixated on the mirror, or the numbers on the scale won't necessarily bring the desired change. The truth is that real change comes from a shift in habits and mindset.
Instead of obsessing about your appearance, consider shifting your focus to the habits needed to create the change you seek. Whether your goal is to lose weight, gain muscle, or improve overall health, your daily choices genuinely matter.
One of my most significant issues is not meal prepping; working six days per week, meal prepping on a Sunday feels like the biggest chore; however, I know when I accomplish it, it sets me up for a successful week!
2. Neglecting Strength Goals and Prioritising Cardio
Many individuals associate physical fitness primarily with their looks; while cardio workouts have benefits, a transformation occurs when you push the boundaries with strength training.
Setting strength goals and prioritising weight training can lead to a profound change in your confidence & strengthen your mental resilience simultaneously!
By focusing on what your body can do rather than how it looks, you'll cultivate a healthier relationship with exercise and self-esteem.
3. Comparing Yourself to Others
One of the biggest obstacles to achieving your goals is the habit of comparing yourself to others.
The rise of social media has exacerbated this problem, as it's easier than ever to scroll through perfectly curated profiles and feel inadequate. However, this self-destructive habit can hinder your progress and isn't great for self-confidence.
Most of the stuff we see is a lie or act anyway...
To overcome this obstacle, it's crucial to understand that everyone's journey is unique. Comparing yourself to others is like comparing apples to oranges; it's fundamentally unfair and unproductive, and both are tasty.
Instead, focus on your progress and celebrate your achievements. Embrace the idea that success comes in different forms and paces for everyone. By eliminating the unnecessary burden of comparison, you can channel your energy into self-improvement, which is a much more effective and fulfilling way to reach your goals.
Use others ahead of you as motivation or inspiration by all means, but comparison makes appreciating progress difficult. Unique is the best.
In my second Arnold Classic competition, I was expecting the same level of competition. I did all the work & gained 5-6KG of stage weight muscle mass only to compete against the best lineup in the history of the IFBB category. I went from 3rd to 4th, but I was proud of how far I had come in those few years. I couldn't have done anything better; that was the real win, the improvements I had personally made on the journey!
